During the implementation of the FAO-IGAD partnership, SWALIM developed a trans-boundary land cover map of the Gedo region. In addition to this activity, SWALIM also produced a map of 1270 water ponds which are seasonal. With the onset of the Gu rains in Somalia these water points provide a temporary relief for the drought stricken areas especially for watering livestock.
