TERMS OF REFERENCE - SPFS PHASE I - CROP INTENSIFICATION

(NATIONAL SPECIALIST)

Agronomist

Duration: The assignment will be for a total of .... months on a "when actually employed" basis over the project duration.

Job Description:

Under the supervision of the National Programme Coordinator (NPC), and in close cooperation with other national consultants and TCDC consultants, the Agronomist will carry out the following tasks:

  • participate in needs-assessment of the farming communities, and advise on proper selection of relevant technologies to be demonstrated in project sites; assist in monitoring and evaluation;
  • review crop production technologies adopted and the training given to farmers in project sites; and recommend improvements;
  • closely interact with the TCDC consultants and advise on the cropping patterns to be demonstrated at the farmers fields;
  • assist in organizing technical staff training and workshops aimed at familiarizing field staff on the implementation of the demonstration and farmers field school procedures;
  • participate in the technical staff training and farmers;
  • prepare the mission technical reports.

Qualifications:

Senior agronomist with at least ten years experience in practical work in the field and agricultural feasibility studies.
