National Programme Coordinator (NPC)

Job Description:

The National Programme Coordinator (NPC) will be the officer responsible for implementing and managing the programme, monitoring progress, and reporting to the Government, the Steering Committee and FAO. Under the overall supervision of relevant FAO technical units, and in close collaboration with the National SPFS Team, he/she will be responsible for the following:

  • ensuring smooth implementation of the programme;
  • preparing and updating the programme workplan as needed;
  • facilitating linkages among the central and local level institutions involved in the implementation of the Programme;
  • liaison with FAO and other participating donors;
  • ensuring the timely procurement of physical and technical assistance inputs;
  • guiding, assisting and supervising the works of all parties involved in the programme;
  • enhancing farmers' participation and responsibility; discussing and establishing clear principles of cost recovery with farmers, in view of sustainability and replication of technological transfer;
  • disseminating experience and results of the programme to the Government and potential donors for Phase II;
  • acting as secretary to the meetings of the Steering Committee;
  • assisting with the organization of relevant workshops, seminars, training programmes;
  • producing periodic progress reports on a quarterly and six-monthly basis to the Government and FAO;
  • reviewing and clearing technical reports, and submitting them to the Government and FAO;
  • prepare a Terminal Report, no later than three months before the end of the project.

Qualifications:

The coordinator should possess at least an MS degree in agriculture and 15 years of professional experience, of which at least 5 years should be a project management position. Prior experience with internationally funded projects will be an added advantage.
