NATIONAL SPECIALIST

Farmers' Organization Specialist

Job Description:

Under the guidance of the National Programme Coordinator (NPC), and in collaboration with other members of the project implementation team, he/she will carry out the following duties and responsibilities:

• Collaborate with ...................... (Departments/Agencies) in identifying farmers who are interested in forming groups for programme activities.
• Guide and train the farmers in the formation and administration of the groups.
• In collaboration with ................ (Departments/Agencies) staff and on the basis of the recovery principles set in the report, discuss and agree suitable cost recovery mechanisms with farmers.
• Help in the establishment of revolving funds, and train farmers in the administration of the revolving funds.
• In collaboration with the NPC and ................ (Department/Agencies) staff, distribute equipment, and livestock and aquaculture inputs to the farmers.
• Facilitate the marketing of farmers' produce.
• At the end of the marketing season, assist the farmers' groups in loan recovery for equipment and inputs, as agreed.

Qualifications:

A proven record in the mobilization of farmers, training rural groups, and delivering agricultural services particularly rural finance and marketing.
